We went over to their school yesterday to find their classroom, and luckily their teacher was there, so we were able to meet him, too. And, can I just add in here--I’m starting to feel old! I mean, I know I have 7 year-olds, but still…Sheesh! I’m pretty sure their teacher is younger than me, and by several years. I feel like I’m still fairly young. And, aren’t teachers supposed to be old?! Seriously! Ahem, moving on…
I am REALLY glad they are all in the same class this year. They were in three separate classes for the last two years, and it was such a pain in the b.u.t.t. It caused problems because they would have the same homework, but each teacher would want it done in a different way. Or, they’d have the same spelling list, but one teacher would have some of them be '”bonus” words, and the other teachers would not. Oy! I can’t keep up with that! (Ain’t nobody got time for that!)
I can’t believe I have kids in SECOND grade now. SECOND GRADE!! Seriously, where has the time flown to?! I hope and pray they do well at their new school and make good friends. They are really, really excited to start.
They’ve never ridden the bus to school before. In kindergarten they went to a charter school, so I drove them everyday. Last year we lived a mile from the school, so we either rode bikes to school (you can do that year-round in Arizona) or I drove them. They are really stoked to ride the bus!
The bus picks them up right outside our apartment building, which is nice. I was freaking out a little, though, because the bus was 30 minutes late and I was afraid we’d missed it, even though we were outside 10 minutes early!!
Good luck, crazy kids! Have a great first day!!

Congrats on sending them off successfully! My little one started pre-k today. I just died laughing when you linked to "ain't nobody got time for that." We quote that video frequently at our house! :-)

ReplyDeleteNew follower from Friday chaos. Your kids are adorable!
ReplyDeleteHaving young teachers is not necessarily a bad thing...they haven't had time to become jaded by the system. :O) My oldest will turn 16 in December ... and he will be D-R-I-V-I-N-G! I don't know whether to be happy because he can drive (and run errands) or to be worried because he can d-r-i-v-e! *LOL*
ReplyDeleteYour photos are SO CUTE - "first day of 2nd grade" I LOVE IT. When I have kiddos - I'm totally going to do that. Thanks for the idea!!!

It was also tough for you to be at the events and in the classrooms when they were all separate -- being in the same class should make it easier on you in that regard, too.
