I'm in charge of Activity Days at church (midweek activities for kids 8-11 years old). I needed something the kids could make that their Dads might actually use, and that the kids could personalize since my Hubby will end up with three of them!
I came up with these fun bookmarks! Granted, we made bookmarks last year, but these are a little different.
Supplies:
2 colors cardstock or paper, 2" x 6"
Crayons or markers
Glue
Laminator & laminating sheets (optional)
First, make a tie shape out of cardstock or paper. I just took a strip of paper, folded it in half, then cut out my tie.
Next, color the tie and glue it to your "bookmark base". That's it!
If you want it to be a little more sturdy, you can laminate it like I did. Just make sure the glue is all dry before you run it through the laminator. Speaking from personal experience here. ;)
I really like how they turned out. They're kind of quirky. It's funny how different all of their ties came out! If you're wondering, the third one from the left Emma was trying to make a bowtie. The third one from the right, Katelynn decided she wanted to leave the tie the way it was and not glue it to the bookmark base. Hey, that's totally ok.
With the extra supplies I made a little Gryffindor tie bookmark, 'cause I'm a geek. I've just been in Harry Potter craft mode lately with the kids' party! (See the invitations here.)
