Hi! It's Jilly. Last year I started a new tradition for our family. It's called "Carols and Cocoa". On the Monday right after Thanksgiving we invite friends over to sing Christmas carols around the piano and drink hot chocolate! I feel like it is the perfect way to kick off the Christmas season. I love it! Yes, it can get pretty crazy with kids running around and hot chocolate getting spilled, but it's worth it to me.
Last year I had a crockpot full of hot water and cocoa packets out on the table, but that was such a mess! So, I decided to make hot chocolate in the crockpot this time. I made this one from Mrs. Happy Homemaker a few years ago, and it's really good. But, it is super sweet and I wanted to be able to add "mix-ins", so I decided to tweak the recipe. I also got inspiration from Heidi's Recipes. I ended up changing so many things that I figured it warranted posting the 'new' recipe!

Stephen's Hot Cocoa Giveaway!
Hi! It's Jilly. Anyone who knows me will tell you I love hot chocolate! It's so warm and cozy, and makes me think of friends and family! I even did a roundup of seven delicious hot chocolate recipes a little while ago.
Now I have a chance to participate in a giveaway for Stephen's Hot Chocolate- $50 worth! Woot! Stephen's is my favorite. They have so many awesome flavors, and it doesn't taste watery like the kind that comes in packets!
Let's see what Jessica, our giveaway hostess, has to say about Stephen's!

Better Than Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
Hi! It's Jilly. It's snowing again here which can only mean one thing. Well, it can mean lots of things, but the thing we are going to talk about is HOT CHOCOLATE!
I love hot chocolate. Seriously. I would marry it. No, I wouldn't. That would be just weird. But, I do love it a lot. It's super tasty, and it also reminds me of some of my awesome friends from Arizona, so that makes it even better.
A while back I had my first Starbucks hot chocolate EVER. Yes, shocking I know.
Ingredients:
A packet of hot chocolate mix
Water or Milk
Salt
Torani Caramel syrup
Vanilla Caramel coffee creamer
Vanilla Extract (optional)
French Vanilla marshmallows (optional)
Let's do this thing!
1. Measure out a little salt in your hand
2. Add it to a packet of hot chocolate mix in a mug. Stir.
3. Add 6-8 oz hot water or milk. Then pour in 1-2 tsp of Torani syrup.
4. Pour in some vanilla caramel coffee creamer. You can also add a splash of vanilla extract if you like.
5. Top with marshmallows and you're all set! (I love the French vanilla snowman ones.)

It was delicious, but I thought to myself, "I could make this better and cheaper at home." So, I did. And now you can, too.
